Hawarden Independent, April 30, 1936

Mrs. J. C. Wade of Sioux City, who was well known by a number of Hawarden people, passed away at her home Wednesday morning following an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Harry Christy's funeral chapel in Morningside with Rev. G. D. Serrill in charge. Interment will be made in Graceland Park cemetery.

The deceased was born at Syracuse, N.Y., July 11, 1870, and when a child she came to Elk Point with her parents. She was married to J. C. Wade at Sioux Falls, July 22, 1890. After her marriage she lived at Akron and 19 years ago they moved to Sioux City which has been her home ever since. She was one of the founders of the Christian church at Akron and when she moved to Sioux City she united with a church of the same denomination there. She was also a member of the Women's Relief Corps. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grace Kingsbury and Mrs. Jessie Pfening of Sioux City, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie A. Garrits of Wentworth, SD.
