Rock Valley - Nellie Wallenburg, 89, Rock Valley, died Friday, Nov. 19 at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.

Services were Tuesday, Nov. 23 at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Paul Bakker officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Nellie Wallenburg, daughter of Uilke & Tryntje (Terpstra) Feenstra, was born Feb. 4, 1915 near Inwood. She attended country school. She married John Wallenburg on Dec. 28, 1937 in Inwood. They farmed southeast of Inwood for 31 years. They moved to Rock Valley in 1968, where she was a housekeeper for Lorraine Roorda for 20 plus years. Mr. Wallenburg died Nov. 23, 1980. She moved to Valley Manor in Rock Valley on April 15, 2003. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, where she was active in the Martha Circle. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, reading her Bible and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald and Marian Wallenburg of Inwood, and John Wallenburg of Rock Valley; two daughters, Eunice and Gerrit Teunissen of Rock Valley and Gertrude & Edward De Jong of Littleton, CO; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thressa and John De Haan of Grandville, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wallenburg; two great-grandchildren, Chad Sandbulte and Faith Wallenburg; an infant sister, and a brother, Arnold Feenstra.

Memorials may be directed to Hope Haven or Rock Valley Christian School.
