Russell Ericson, 77, of Hawarden died Tuesday, October 8, at a hospital in Hawarden.

Services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 12, at United Church of Christ in Alcester, South Dakota, with the Rev. Al Wagner officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester.

Ericson was born November 16, 1913 in Hawarden. He attended Petry Country School and then farmed on the family farm. He married Laurine Jurgenson in Sioux City, September 1, 1939. The couple farmed near Big Springs, South Dakota, until 1975 when they moved into Hawarden. She died September 17, 1990.

He was a member of United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Bart of Alcester; two brothers, Cecil of Akron, and Durwood of Hawarden; a sister, Myrtle Newman of Hawarden; and several nieces and nephews.
