Sioux Center News, November 3, 1949

Mr. Charles A. Walhof, Attorney at Law, died at his home in Rock Valley early Saturday morning, October 29, 1949. He had attained the age of 73 years, 7 mos, and 16 days. He had been ailing the past two years but had been able to go up town and continued his law business until a short time ago. His death was the result of cancer.

Mr. Walhof, was born in the Netherlands, March 13, 1876, and came to America as a boy. He received his education at Sioux Center, and taught school for a time. He graduated from the John Marshall Law School at Chicago, Ill. and located in Rock Valley 45 years ago. He was engaged in the banking business for many years and of late years maintaining only his law practice.

He married Miss Wilhelmina Jongewaard at Orange City on April 5, 1906.

Besides his widow he is survived by one son Bernard of Buhle, Idaho, and one daughter Helen Ruth, Mrs. Park Anderson of Vinton, Iowa, six grandchildren and one brother Peter Walhof of Edgerton, Minn.

Funeral services were held in the First Reformed Church with Rev. Maurice L. Jones officiating.
