SERVICES HELD FOR GEORGE ELMITT, 59, FORMER RESIDENT

George Elmitt, 59, of Sioux Rapids, former Hawarden resident, died in a Sioux Rapids hospital Monday, June 16, following a heart attack. Mr. Elmitt had suffered from a heart ailment and had been unable to work for a number of years.

Funeral services were held at Sioux Rapids Wednesday afternoon and burial was at that place.

Mr. Elmitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Elmitt, was born in Hawarden July 4, 1886. For many years he was employed by the North Western Railroad company. He served 23 months in World War I and was overseas part of the time.

About 20 years ago he went to Sioux Rapids where he married Clara Williams. Two children were born to this union. His wife and daughter preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, Robert, 16, two sisters, Mrs. Steffen Madsen of Pocahontas, Iowa and Mrs. Sam Blair of Hawarden, and one brother, Arthur Elmitt, of Chadron, Neb.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Blair and Martin Anderson and Arthur Elmitt of Chadron, Neb., went from Hawarden to attend the funeral.
