MRS. BERT WALINGA

Funeral services for Mrs. Bert Walinga, who passed away at her home north of Boyden Tuesday, January 20th, at 3:15 p.m., following a brief illness due to a cardiac condition, were held on Friday, January 23rd, 1959, at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. John Irwin in charge.

Mrs. Alfred Doorenbos sand "If I Gained the World" and "Heartaches." Interment was at the Boyden cemetery. Pall bearers were Arthur Drenth, Donald Drenth, Richard Van Rennes, Richard Sipma, Harry Walinga and Keith Sipma.

Ella Drenth, daughter of the late Klaas Drenth and Henrietta Harms, was born January 15, 1899, a mile and a half south of Boyden, where she grew to woman-hood, receiving her schooling at Boyden.

On August 26, 1915, she was married to Mr. Bert Walinga at Worthington, Minnesota. They spent their married life together at Sheldon, Boyden, Rock Valley, Sheldon and then back to Boyden where they have made their home since 1944, until the time of her death on a farm north of town.

To this union two daughters and four sons were born: (Mae) Mrs. Marvin Dugger of Kansas City, Kansas; (Flossie) Mrs. Jack Cooper of Windom, Minnesota; Alex Walinga of Boyden; Elmer Walinga of Sheldon; Edward Walinga of Boyden and Kenneth Walinga of Windom, Minnesota.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, 6 children, 8 grandchildren; 7 sisters, 4 brothers, Mrs. Flora Heemstra of Santa Ana, California; Mrs. Cora Schildhauler of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; Mrs. Minnie Rehberg of Hartley, Iowa; Mrs. Kate Van Rennes of Sheldon, Iowa; Mrs. Ernest Kammlade of Boyden, Iowa; Mrs. Grace Anderson of Forsythe, Montana; Mrs. Mary Van Meeteren of Sheldon; Klaas and Alex Drenth of Ellsworth, Minnesota; and Nick and Jake Drenth of Sheldon. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rosella, in June of 1927; three brothers, William Drenth in October, 1957 and Weerdt Drenth in October, 1958, and Jake Drenth, who passed away in infancy.

Mrs. Walings was a baptized member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden. She was a devoted mother and a friend of all who knew her.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were from Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa.
