Clayton Burnight Dies At Spencer

Funeral services for Clayton Burnight, 47, formerly of Chatsworth, who died at a Spencer hospital Sunday [Oct. 21] following a skull fracture sustained in a fall in the basement of his home there, were held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church in Hawarden. Fr. L. Friedman officiated at the requiem mass. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Akron.

Mr. Burnight was born September 3, 1915, at Akron and was graduated from Hawarden high school. After the death of his mother when he was a child he was raised by Mrs. Margaret Schafer in Chatsworth.

He served overseas during World War II. He never married. He resided in Chatsworth prior to moving to Spencer where he resided the last several years.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Renken of Chatsworth, and a brother, Francis, of Helena, Mont.

The rosary was recited at the Barnard Funeral home Tuesday night.
