Theodore E. "Ted" Burnight, 75, of Hawarden died Tuesday, October 11, 1988, in a Sioux City hospital. Services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 14, 1988 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Edmond Adams officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Burnight was born September 13, 1913, near Akron. He married Marjorie Wheeler June 4, 1938, at Akron. The couple farmed in the Akron area until moving to Hawarden in 1950 where he was employed at the Conoco Oil Station until 1964. From 1964 until his retirement in 1979, he was employed as custodian by West Sioux Community School. Mr. Burnight was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary Ellen) Mullin of Council Bluffs; two sons, Charles of San Antonio, Texas, and Larry of Hawarden; a sister, Madeline Vanderham of Sioux City; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Casket bearers were: Keith Burnight, Mark Burnight, Matt Mullin, Brian Burnight, Harlan Wheeler and Tim Scherle.
