Mildred Marie Buffington, 78, of Groton, Conn., died July 1, 2003. A graveside service was held July 3 at Divine Providence Cemetery, Norwich, Conn.

Mildred Buffington was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Hawarden, the daughter of John and Agnes Simpson. She married James Barton Buffington in Norwichtown on Nov. 10, 1998.

Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Donald Simpson of Sioux City and Harold Simpson of Groton; and one nephew, John W. Simpson of Sioux City.
