Coba Salsbury, age 92, of Rock Valley, IA, formerly of Reno, Nevada, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital at Rock Valley, IA. Funeral service was Monday, May 15, at the Pioneer United Methodist Church at Rock Valley. Burial was at the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Rev. Ron Johnson officiated. Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Coba was born July 19, 1902 at Sioux Center, IA, daughter of Cornelius and Jacoba (Hoeve) Van Beek. She graduated from Sioux Center High School and then the University of Iowa at Iowa City, IA with a Home Economics degree. Coba taught for a total of fifteen years at Sioux Center and Delhi, Iowa, Yakima, Washington, and Tonopah, Nevada. Coba married Roy Salsbury on April 10, 1936 in California. Together they lived in Reno, Nevada. Roy died September 9, 1971. Coba continued to live in Reno until moving to be with her sisters at the Valley Manor in Rock Valley, IA December 24, 1992.

Surviving relatives include her twin sister, Mrs. G. G. (Cora) Vermeer of Rock Valley, IA; nieces and nephews.

Coba was preceded in death by infant twin brother and sister, Andrew and Grace; brothers, Gilbert and Andrew Van Beek; sisters, Gertrude Vande Brake, Grace Mouw, and Jean Buffington, who passed away May 3, 1995.
