Charles W. Eastman a resident of Hawarden community for many years, died Sunday afternoon July 1, at the Hawarden hospital at the age of 76 years. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Ross Funeral home, with Rev. Noel P. Orcutt pastor of the Associated church in charge. Interment will be in Grace Hill cemetery.

Charles W. Eastman was born on August 26, 1868, in Jasper county, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Eastman. When a young boy, he came to sioux county with his parents, and lived in this community ever since. He farmed several places in this vicinity, but at the time of his death was living in Hawarden. He was married 52 years ago to Miss Coral Cline of Hawarden. Six children survive. They are Mrs. Etta Vande Pol, of Ireton; Mrs. Minnie Collopy, of Eagler Grove, Iowa; Elmer Eastman, of Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Mabel Revell, of Medford, Ore; Milo Eastman, of Billings, Mont; Levi Eastman, seaman first class at Camp Kearney, Calif. There are 22 grandchildren and one great grandchildren.

He also is survived by one brother,Lauren Eastman, of Woonsocket,SD.and two sisters, Mrs. Alive Liston of Sioux City and Mrs. Nettie Liston of Hecla, SD.
