Last Rites Held For Henry A. Vlotho Sunday

Died In Community Hospital At Hawarden Thursday, May 22nd

Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, May 25 for Henry A. Vlotho who, passed away to his external home at the Community Hospital in Hawarden on Thursday at 4 p.m., May 22, 1941, after an illness of three months. He had reached the age of 54 years, three months arid 17 days. Rev. H. W. Krieger officiated. Burial was made in St. Paul's cemetery.

Heinrich August Vlotho was born Feb. 5, 1887 in Reading township, Sioux county, Iowa. He was one of six children. He was the son of the now sainted Henry Vlotho, Sr., and his wife, Emilie Dittmer, and was received into the Covenant of God by Holy Baptism on March 22, 1887, and later instructed and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. John's Lutheran church, Reading township, Sioux county, to which faith he remained faithful to the end.

Subsequently he was united in Holy Matrimony to Anna Johnson on. Feb. 17, 1910, making their home on a farm southeast of Ireton until six years ago when they retired from farnung making their home in Ireton.

To this happy union. three children were born, namely two sons Orville and Emery, and one daughter, Armilda all of Ireton.

For many years Mr. Vlotho Was an active and faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church during which time he acted as elder and treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Farmer's Co-Operative Association

Those surviving him are his widow and his two sons, Orville and Emery, and a daughter, Annilda, two grandsons, Rodney Deane and Emery, Jr., three sisters, Mrs. Hugo Wellnitz of Ireton, Mrs. Rini Eilts of the Mars, and Miss Verona Vlotho of Long Beach, Calif; and one brother, Gustave Vlotho of Le Mars.

One brother, Raymond, preceded him on death many years.

Other survivors are: two step-sisters, Mrs. Edna VanderHamm of Ireton, Mrs. Louis Heidbrink of Le Mars and three step·brothers, Martin Kading, Paul Kading and Edward Kading, all of Ireton, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Green of Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Treiber of Rock Valley and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schultz and Fred Helgen of Hinton, Mr. and Mrs. John Eilers and Myrna, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Eilers,. Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Johnson, Mr and Mrs. George Lubben, Mrs. Fred Baack, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Beeker, Lillian Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Utech, Mrs. Jacob Gross and Lena, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis. Heidbrink all of Le Mars.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Utech of Orange City, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Irwin, Mr. and Mrs. Bogge Col, Mr. and Mrs, Jo Dillon and Mr and Mrs. Ed Kephardt, of Sioux City,

Charlie Johnson and daughter, Verna, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schultz, all of Craig; mr. and Mrs. H. A. Ricklefs of Spirit Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest VanderHamm of Shelden.

Pallbearers were: Herman Hagge, Wm. Treiber, Wm. Sinkey, C. C. Wells, Henry Poll and Frank Fritz.
