Esther Soost was born January 7, 1911, at Hawarden, Iowa, to William and Mata (Miller) Soost. She was baptized, confirmed, and received her education at Hawarden. Esther moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota following high school. She began her employment at the South Dakota Air Base in the PX during World War II. She worked for RKO as a film inspector, and then went to work for KELO Television. Esther retired from KELO as a film inspector in the early 1970’s after twenty-two years. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church. Esther loved to cook and was also talented at baking a variety of pies. Always concerned with the well being of others, her gentle and quiet spirit will be well missed. Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Florence Soost, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Anderson, a step-sister, Edna Abbey and her step-brother, Harry Stief.
