Last Rites For Carl Anderson Held Here Monday

Funeral services for Carl Ole Anderson, 76. who died at the hospital Thursday after having been in failing health the past year, were held at the Barnard Funeral home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Oliver Everson of the American Lutheran church officiated with burial in Grace Hill cemetery. Mrs. Hal Shoemaker was the organist and accompanied Mr. Shoemaker as soloist. Casket bearers were Lawrence Anderson, Tony Schumacher, Larry Schumacher, John Knutson, Anfin Knutson and Dale Abbey.

Mr. Anderson was born at Alcester April 20, 1887, one of 13 children of Nels and Martha Anderson. As a child he came to Hawarden with his parents and with the exception of a few years after his marriage, which he spent at Alcester, resided at Hawarden the last 64 years.

He married Cora Munson of Mabel, Minn., June 2, 1908. He was, prior to that, baptized and confirmed in the old Nathanael Lutheran church at Alcester. Mr. Anderson was employed on the railroad with the section crew until his retirement about 17 years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, all but one brother and one sister, and three children, Palmer who died in infancy, Myrtle who died at age 14, and Norman who died in February of this year.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Leland, Kenneth and Lindy, all of Hawarden; a daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Leo Schumacher of Chatsworth; 17 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Those from out of town attending the funeral came from Cedar Falls, Council Bluffs and Arco, Minn.
