Wayne J. Hedden, 81, of Hawarden, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at his residence in Hawarden. Funeral Mass was Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden with the Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Joseph Hedden was born Sept. 26,1921 at Akron, to Wayne and Anna (Kavanaugh) Hedden. He served with the U.S. Army uring World War II serving overseas and receiving the Purple Heart.
He married Bernice Shriner on July 4,1942 at Hawarden.
The made their home in Hawarden. Mrs. Hedden died in March of 1974. He worked on farms in the Hawarden area, later he was employed at Otis Radio and then as a policeman.
He married Daisy Waterman in 1977 at Hawarden, she died in 1982. He married Vivian Vander Helm in 1999. They made their home in Hawarden.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the BAV #54.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; children, Sharon Van Noort, Bonna Hugh, Kimberlee Albers, Kirby Hedden and Kody Hedden, all of Hawarden, Wayne J. Hedden, Jr. of Waco, Texas, Kerry Hedden of Alcester; stepson, Buane Vander
Helm of Thornton, Colo.; three sisters, Marion Smith of Roseville, Calif, Lois BeVries and Sheila Smith of Hawarden; 25 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 24 greatgrandchildren.
