Mr. Leen Heemskerk was born in the Netherlands, December 13, 1871. He came to America at the
age of 20 years.
On May 3, 1906. he was united in marriage to Antje Bell Ruysenaar. To this union six children
were born, one dying in infancy.
He made his living by doing mason work.
He was taken to St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital at Sioux City on April 5th and submitted to an operation a week later and passed way early Saturday morning, April 22nd.
Surviving are his wife and five daughters, Ada (Mrs. John Droog) of Hull; Margaret (Mrs. Ray Tamminga)of Sheldon; Henrietta (Mrs. Arie Koele) of Hull; Floreda (Mrs. Wilfred Beckman) of Hull;
and Gertrude (Mrs. Roy Riemers) of Boyden; eleven grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:00 p. m. at the home of Wilfred Beckman, and 1:30 at
the First Reformed Church with the Van Etten Funeral Service in charge. Burial was in Hope cemetery
