Translated from the Dutch account.
Monday a sad accident happen at place two miles south of town when the 10:00 train was crossing. Christian Heemsbergen came precisely with a horse and buggy that was on a straight as a javelin runway. He apparently did not see the train coming. The train hit the rear wheels of the buggy and flung it fifty feet away. Heemsbergen was brought by the train staff to Sioux City. He had some scratches above his eyes and on the nose, in Sioux City the internal wounds found where one of the ribs and pierced the lungs. He died Wednesday. The body was sent to Sioux Center. The funeral will be held in the first Refomed Church. The deceased was about 55 years old and unmarried, he made his home with the family Van Rennes.
