Laid to Rest
On Monday, Comrade Lundy received word from Bock Valley that the wife of Comrade Lundy, a former member of Cottrel} Post, had died and that the
funeral services would be beld from the U. P., Chursh of Rock Valley on Tuesday afternoon. A number of the comrades, in company with the president of our W. R. C , took the train at
noon to be present on this sorrowing occasion .........
Mrs. Catharine Lundy, wife of Comrade James Lundy, was born at Quebec, Canada, March 2, 1849; was converted in early life ana united with
the M. E. church and lived the life of a Christian until the master summoned her to her final reward. In Hartford, NY on Feb 4th, 1878 she was united in marriage to James Lundy. In
1878 they came to northwest Iowa and lived at Doon for a short time, and then went to Rock Valley where they have since resided- Three children, two grown daughters and a son about
ten years of age are thus deprived of a mother's council and love.
he funeral services at the church were conducted by Rev. Jory of the M.E. church. The W. R.C., of which she was a member, had charge of the funeral and were assisted by the G. A. R. comrades. Beautiful floral tributes adorned the casket of the departed wife, mother and sister. The large congregation assembled was a living
tribute. to the esteem in which the deceased
was held.

In the 1885 census of Rock Tsp, Sioux county, James Lundy b. abt 1840 Ireland, wife Kate Lundy age 36 born Canada, they had three children Emma 15, Ida 13, and Eugene 1.
Catherine's maiden name was not listed on her husband death notice in the Rock Vally Bee of May 12, 1922 either, however found that it was McDonald from the marriage of there daughter Ida Jane Lundy to Wm. Ludolph June 9, 1897 Sioux county marriage records.)
