Allen J. Eisma,75, of Ireton, died Saturday, June 19, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with the Rev. Ronald Sprik officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.
Eisma was born August 26, 1923, at McNally, the son of Sipke and Jennie (Katje) Eisma. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Philippine Island. Her married Clara De Kruyf on June 26, 1947, at Ireton. He was employed at an implement dealer in Rock Valley for a few years. He and his brother Peter operated the Eisma Brothers Garage in Ireton since 1951. He was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton, where he served a number of terms as an elder and deacon.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Sheryl Kiel of Chino, Calif., Sherwin "Butch" and his wife Sherry of Ireton, Stewart and his wife Rochelle of Ireton, Sheila Norris and her husband Alan of Victorville, Calif., and Sharla Gradert and her husband Brian of Ireton; a brother, Eugene Eisma and his wife Betty Jean of Inwood; a sister, Sadie De Vries of Denver, Colorado; and 13 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Sylvan Kiel; four brothers, Sid, Burton, Peter and Earnest Eisma; a sister, Kathryn in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Cornie De Vries.
