Sioux County Capital of Orange City(21-4-1983)

Miss Sally Dyke, 1012 S. Martha Street died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at Morningside Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Arthur K. Beumier and Mark Miller officiated. Burial was at Presbyterian Cemetery east of Hospers'

Miss Dyke was born 26 Sept.1903 and raised in Hospers where she graduated from high school. She worked in retail business most of her life and worked at T.S. Martin Department store in Sioux City. She lived 15 years in Minneapolis, two years in California and then bought a store at Hinsdale, Ill. which she operated for 17 years. In 1961 she moved to LeMars where she and her sister owned the Young Villager Store. In 1967 she retired and returned to Sioux City.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club in LaMars and the Morningside Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and was active in the Naomi Circle and the Marterians.

Survivors include two brothers, Sherman of Sioux City and Lester of Worthington, Minn.; seven sisters, Mrs.Ben (Grace) Vandenberg of Orange City; Mrs.Dick(Sadie) Schaafsma of Hospers, Margaret, Juile and Rose Dyke, all of Sioux City, Mrs. Paul (Claire)Shoemaker of Walnut Creek Calif., and Mrs. Harley(Beatrice)McAllister of Sacramento, Calif.
