Chester De Boer,88, Hull, died Monday Sept.2, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Services were Thursday, Sept. 5, at American Reformed Church in Hull, with Tadd Masteller officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull, with Curtis De Boer officiating, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Chester Arnold, son of Gossen and Hattie (Scholten) De Boer, was born Sept. 27, 1913 in Doon. He was raised on a farm by Doon. He married Goldie De Leeuw on Jan. 20, 1937, at her parent's home at Hull. They farmed at Hull, operating the De Leeuw family farm northwest of Hull 1942-1963. They then moved to a home on the southwest coner of Hull. Mrs. De Boer died Oct. 23, 1998, in Hull. He also represented Pioneer Seeds 1948-1980. and then worked with his son Dwayne De Boer, until 1983. He became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull on May 13,2002

He was a member of the Church of Christ in LeMars and the Senior Citizens in Hull. He and his wife wintered in Texas for many years, where he served on the board of directors of Golden Acres for 10 years. He also was a director of a dairy board and a country school board. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, watching television, and traveling. He shared much of his garden produce with neighbors and friends

Survivors include two sons C. Dwayne and Janice De Boer of Hull and Merlyn and Connie De Boer of Spirt Lake; four grandchildren 11 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two sisters Augusta Bolks of Hull and Gladys Ripley of Lincoln, MO. and a brother Bernie De Boer of LeMars.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie De Boer; and two brothers, Donald and Bob De Boer.
