Jennie Heemstra, 101, of Sioux Center died Sunday, Jan.25,2004,at Orange City Hospital Long Term Care in Orange City.
Services were held on Friday, Jan. 30 at 10:30a.m. at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Van Rathbun officiated. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center.
Jennie was born June 3, 1902, at Orange City, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Kleinhesselink) Boone.
On Sept. 23,1921, she married James Brommer. They made their home in Sioux Center. Mr. Brommer died July 5, 1938, at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 41.
Jennie married Henry W. Heemstra on April 1, 1943, at Hospers. He died Oct.7,1983, at Sioux Center.
Mrs. Heemstra was a member of Central Reformed Church and was a charter member of American Legion Auxiliary Doornink-Brunsting Post, Sioux Center.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Lester and Marian Brommer and Donald and Anne Brommer, all of Sioux Center, Thelma
and Garth Madsen of Okoboji and James Jr.and Penny Brommer of Bend, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survjved by Henry's children and their spouses, Angeline Elgersma of
Sanborn, Albert and Berdella Heemstra of Hospers and Lois and Boyd Ford of Mesa, Ariz.; 16 stepgrandchildren; 32 great-stepgrandchildren; and 26 greatgreat- stepgrandchildren.
In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter,Roxi Baerenwald; a grandson, Brad Brommer; a son-in-law, Henry Elgersma; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Sandbulte;
a sister, Artie Vander Tuig; and seven brothers, Gerrit, Arie, John, Andrew, Henry, William and Doris Boone.
