Eugene N. (Gene) Ney, 73, a former Hawarden resident and businessman, died unexpectedly at Herington, Kansas on Feb. 27. Mr. & Mrs. Ney were on their way home from a vacation in Texas at the time.

Mr. Ney was a former partner of Mike's Chevrolet Co. and left Hawarden to enter the Navy in 1942. After returning from the service, he purchased the Buick Agency at St. Peter, MN. He retired from business in 1972.

Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church at St. Peter, MN on Mar 2.

He is survived by his wife, one brother, Leo of Madison, SD and two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Muth and Mrs. Charles Lowell of Hawarden and several nieces and nephews.
