January 8, 1901—March 12, 1999
Grace Vander Berg, 98, of Sioux Center died on March 12 at Sioux Center Community Hospital and Health Center. She was born on January 8, 1901, on the family farm Just south of Sioux Center, to Jessie (Van Berkum) and Simon Beernink. Grace was a lifelong member of Central Reformed Church and lived In Sioux Center all of her life.
She married Douwe E. Vander Berg on June 24, 1926.
Survivors are her daughter Eleanor and husband Leland Roetman of Rock Rapids, son-in-law Norman Den Hartog of Storm Lake, three granddaughters and three grandsons, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband Douwe in July 1968, daughter Marilyn in July, 1998 and sisters Mabel Vande Berg, Esther Schoep, Ella Vanden Berg and brother William Beernink.
Private grave-side services took place on Saturday, March 13, at 3 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Brian Steenhoek officiating.
