Source:Oolman Funeral HomeMrs. Mavis Breuer, age 83, of Hull, passed away on Friday, January 6, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, January 9, at 10:30 AM, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Hull. The Rev. John M. Riggle will officiate. Internment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 PM on Sunday, with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Mavis was born on September 5, 1922, at George, the daughter of Henry and Alice (Brommer) Hansmann. She grew up on the farm north of George and graduated from George High School.
On Frebruary 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Emil Breuer. Together they lived on a farm north of Hull, where they farmed and raised their family of seven children. Emil passed away on August 23, 1976. Mavis then moved to Boyden. In 1992, she became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Home and in 1998, transferred to Pleasant Acres.
Mavis was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and St. Paul's Helping Hand Circle. She spent a great deal of time crocheting, embroidering, and quilting. In recent years, her greatest joy was attending family celebrations, especially with her grandchildren and great-children.
Mavis is survived by six children and their spouses, Leroy and Pearl Breuer, of Luverne, Minnesota; Larry and Audrey Breuer, of Peoria, Arizona; Glennis and Judy Breuer, of Hull; Marlene and Ken Sweeter, of Worthington, South Dakota; Galen and Jeanne Breuer, of Hull; and Steven and Lynn Breuer, of Le Mars; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Breuer, of Rock Rapids; Twenty-eight grand children, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Mildred and Robert Dickmann, of Hull; a brother and his wife, Allen and Betty Hansmann, of George; and two sisters-in-law, Erma and her husband Rudolf Fick, of Hull; and Ora Breuer, of Sibley.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ervin; a grandson, Timothy; a great-grandson, Allen; and a brother, Marvin Hansmann.
