Boyden - Mr. Gerrit Bosman passed away on Tuesday evening, Sept. 14, 1948 after one day of illness at the Hull hospital. He was born on April 2, 1868 in Bathman, Netherlands. He attained the age of 80 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 17, 1948 at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church of Boyden.
He was married to Berdena Vreeman on May 6, 1893, who preceded him in death five years ago. They came to this country with two children, Hermina (Mrs. George Brinks) and Henry Bosman of Boyden in the year 1900. He is survived by six daughters and one son: Hermina (Mrs. George Brinks of Boyden), Henry Bosman of Boyden; Gertrude (Mrs. Cornie Rens) of Correll, Minn.; Dena (Mrs. Wm. Moret) of Boyden; Marie (Mrs. Lewis Heitritter) of Boyden; Bertha (Mrs. Henry Moret) of Boyden; Rena (Mrs. John Veen) of Sheldon. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Gerrit John Bosman, Gerrit and John Brinks, Lloyd, Bernard, Junior Rens.
Rev. Chester Postma officiated and interment was made at the Boyden cemetery. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. John Wissink and Dora Wissink and Mrs. E. Vreeman of Sheldon, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie De Jong, Mr. & Mrs. Peter De Jong of Hills; Mr. & Mrs. Henry Wissink and Mr. & Mrs. Martin Brinks of Middleburg, Mr. & Mrs. John Bomgaars of Middleburg, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Hubers, Mr. & Mrs. Gerrit Roseboom, Mrs. L. Rens, Mr. & Mrs. Tim Rens, Mr. Gerrit Rens and Mr. J. E. Ellis all of Orange City, Mr. & Mrs. Herman Dieterman of Sheldon, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Grotters of Hospers and Mrs. H. Maris of Sheldon and other relatives and friends.
