Luella Larson, Hudson, SD, age 86, died Saturday, January 26,2002 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Services were held
January 30 at 10:30 a.m., Hudson Lutheran Church with burial at Eden Cemetery in Hudson. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Luella Larson was born on June 3, 1915 in Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of Oliver and Hilda (Njos)Kittelson. As a child, Luella helped
on the homestead farm. The Kittelson family moved to Sioux Falls, SD area when Luella was 6 years old. They farmed near Colton, SD. Luella met Clarence Larson at a dance in Hudson, SD, and they were later married on June 1, 1940 in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Together they farmed in the Hudson area. They enjoyed square dancing and playing cards and were very active in the local Lutheran Church.
Clarence died on September 17,1967.
Luella remained very active, working at Coast-to-Coast in Hawarden, Iowa and the Colonial Manor of Hudson. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Luella moved to Mallard point Senior Living in November 2000.
Surviving relatives include one son and his wife, Duane and Cathy Larson of Hudson; 2 daughters and their husbands, Donna and Tom Manske of Rochester, MN, Dianne and David Barton of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 2 brothers and their wives: Harvey and Dolly Kittelson of Canova, SD and Glen and Maria Elena Kittelson of Corona, CA; 4 sisters: Bea Husman of Canton, SD, Hazel Eggleston of San Bernardino, CA, Lois Schulte of Sioux Falls, SD and Norma and her husband Cecil Crawford of Canton; 7 grandchildren: Michelle and husband Scott Neal of Buffalo,NY. Jill Manske
of Ecuador, S. America, Amanda Larson of Hudson, Scott Manske of Minneapolis, MN, Jason Barton and
wife Stephanie of Phoenix, AZ, and Sarah Barton of Knoxville, TN; 2 great-grandchildren: Michele Manske of Minneapolis and Brenden Barton of Knoxville.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; one sone, Dale; 3 brothers.
