FORMER RESIDENT OF CITY IS DEAD
Mrs. Henry Margolin, 78, a former well known Hawarden woman, passed away at Huron, S. D., last Wednesday morning, August 8, where she made
her home with her daughter, Mrs. Abe N. Berg, for the last three years. Mrs. Margolin had been in failing health for several years and was bedfast the past year.
Her remains were brought to Sioux City and funeral services were held at the Shaare Zion synagogue at 2:30 last Friday afternoon. Burial was in Floyd cemetery.
Mrs. Margolin came to Hawarden with her family about 45 years ago, when her husband opened up a fruit and confectionery store here. Later the family moved to western South (Dakota?) where the family met with the same discouragements
which met other claim holders in that section of the country, so they came back to Hawarden. Again her husband engaged in business and added groceries and dry goods and their business became a success.
Later, the Margolins erected the Margolin building in which the Penney store is now located and ran a large department store. About sixteen years ago, after her husband sold his business hero they moved to Sioux City. Mr. Margolin passed away in 1937 and since that time she made her home with her children.
She is survived by three sons, Sam Margolin of Deadwood, S. D., Harry Margolin of Yankton, S. D., and Attorney Frank Margolin of Sioux City,
and two daughters, Mrs. Phil Glodblatt of Sioux City and Mrs. Abe. N. Berg of Huron, S. D.
