Barbara Jean Minten
Barbara Jean Minten, 52, of Alton died Sunday June 13, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Nelson of Third Presbyterian Church and the Rev. James Tigges of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Burial was in St. Maiy's Cemetery, Alton. Mrs. Minten was born September 8, 1946, in Inglewood, California, the daughter of Roy and Arlene (Cole) Peck. She was raised in the Peru and Nebraska City, Nebraska, area. She married Gerald Laflin on June 6, 1966, in Peru. The couple moved to Alton in 1976. She married Ronald L. Minten on August 3, 1985, in Alton . She was employed in the offices of Orange City Municipal Hospital, Floyd Valley School and the county assessor of Sioux County.
She was a member of Alton Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Session, as an elder, with the choir and as a youth group sponsor and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Presbyterian Women, Ruth Circle and Floyd
American Legion Post Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting antiques, bears and bells.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Geri Lynn and Jon Stivers of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; her mother of Nebraska City;
three brothers, Joel Peck and his wife Kay of Carlisle, Bruce Peck of Tallahassee, Florida, and
Robert Peck and his wife Betty of Milford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials are directed to Alton Presbyterian Church for choir music and Orange City
Municipal Hospital for the pulmonary rehabilitation department.
