Alberta G.Schmidt,89, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, December 8,1987 in a hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday December 12 in Pioneer United Methodist Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial was in Eden Cemetery in Hudson, South Dakota. Visitation was held at the Porter Funerral Home, Rock Valley.

Mrs.Schmidt the former Alberta Marshall, was born Sept. 5,1898, near Hudson. She attended Hudson High School and a business school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She married Edward Schmidt June 19, 1918, in Sioux City. She worked in the office at the Marrell Plant at Sioux Falls while her husband was in the military services. The couple then farmed near Rock Valley. He died Jan.18. 1983. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Rock Valley Federated Womens Club, Sioux Counhty Extension Club, Pioneer United Methodist Church and Women's Society of the church and OES for more than 50 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Knorr of Sioux Falls; a sister, Mrs. Clarence(Maxine) Nygard of Hudson; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
