Emma Rosetta Miller 104, of Rock Valley died Sunday, June 4, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
Services were at 1 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Chruch in rural Sioux Center with the Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was born November 25, 1901, the daughter of Oliver K. and Bertha (Erickson) Toft, in Garfield Township, Sioux County. She was baptized and confirmed (in Norwegian) at Hudson Lutheran chruch. She graduated from Hudson SD High School in 1920. Following a summer normal school course, she taught rural school at Gerfield (the Miller School) for four years, sandwiched around one year at Chatsworth. She married Oscar E. Miller on August 5, 1925, in Hudson, after which they farmed seven miles south of Rock Valley. He died December 17, 1967. She retired to Rock Valley in 1993.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Chruch and was an active participant. She also was active in community organizations and was among the leaders in developing Rock Valley Senior Center.
Survivors include three sons, Verlyn 'Mike' Miller of Boulder CO, Rodney (Lois) Miller of Boise ID, and Paul (Ruth) Miller of Delmar; three daughters, Joyce Buckley of Littleton CO , Mary Jane (Norm) Beasley of Tucson AZ, and Mardle (Nolan) Yates of Littleton CO; 16 grand and 22 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eloise Kramer; four brothers and three sisters.
