Dorothy Miller, 93, of Hudson, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 at Colonial Manor at Hudson. Celebration of Life service was held Sept 12 at Frist Congregational UCC Church at Hudson. Burial was at Eden Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Hudson was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Miller was born Oct 4, 1909 in Colton, SD, the daughter of F. M. and Elizabeth (Ide) Alexander. In 1911 she moved to Hudson with her parents. She attended a rural school in Sioux county for the first eight years of her education. She taught at rural school for several years before her marriage to Harry G. Miller on Sept 15, 1936. They lived in Hudson where she substiture taught in the Hudson Public Schools during the 1940's.
She was baptized and joined the First Congregatinal Church of Hudson in 1923. She was a member for over 80 years and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She served as clerk of Hudson Independent School dirtrict (1944-1970) and was a member of Wonem's Study club since 1936, serving on the Hudson Library Board and was librarian until 2000. She was a member and past chairperson of the Board of Directors of Coloinal Manor until 1992. Mr. Miller died in 1978.
Survivors include her son, Charles Miller of Wichita KS, two grandchildren; brother-in-law, Neil Broscha of Hot Springs Village, AR; and sister in law, Mildred Alexander of Rapid City SD.
