Mrs. Mary Miller
Rock Valley: Mrs. Mary Miller passed away at her home here Saturday morning after a month of illness. She was 85 years old. Funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon at the home and at Peace Lutheran Church.
Mary Muehlethaler was born at Neueneck, Switzerland on November 30, 1860. In 1875 she came to America with her father and brothers and sisters. The family made their home at Elgin, Iowa. On March 24, 1882, she was married to Alexander Miller. They came to Remsen and lived there a year, then on a farm in Garfield Township, and about 20 years ago they moved to Rock Valley.
She was the mother of five children, two of whom preceded her in death. Her husband passed away on September 9, 1936. She is survived by two sons, Fred A. Miller of Garfield, Township, Emil Miller of Hudson SD, and a daughter, Mrs. Lee Clary of Garfield Township. There are 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Louisa Lehman of Elgin, IA.
