Dr. Andrew J. Miller, 83, of Granville, died Friday at the Orange city Municipal Hospital following a lenghty illness.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Jorseph's Cahtolic church at Granville. The Rev. Francis J. Nemmers officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.
Dr. Miller was born Oct 23, 1899, at West Bend to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Miller and Susan Jandl. He graduated from high school there. He attended Kansas State University and recievd his degree in veterinary medicine in 1924. He married Florence Graff Oct 4, 1926 at Granville. He began his vetterinary practice in Granville following his graduation from Kansas State University. He retired in 1954.
He re-enterd active practice with te U.S department of Agriculture in 1960 and served with the USDA until 1970.
Dr. Miller served a number of terms as the mayor of Granville. He also was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the American Veterinary Association, the fraternal order of the Eagles at Sheldon and the Kansas State University Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife: one son Tom of Crookston MN; one daughter, Mr. Marcel (Gwen) Schuver of Granville; one brother Martin of Livermore; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was proceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mr. John Mary Wagner.
