Peter Wielenga
Mr. Peter Wielenga, 76, of Centennial, Colo., formerly of Orange City, passed away on January 25 in North Carolina, while visiting family there.
There was a memorial service on Friday, Feb. 4, at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church of Englewood, Colo.
Interment was prior to the service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton, Colo.
Peter was born on November 3, 1934, in Orange City, the son of Peter R. and Ruth (Cleveringa)
Wielenga.
He was raised at Orange City, where he graduated from high school. He then served in the United States Army in Germany. In 1957, he enrolled in Northwestern Junior College in Orange City. On November 21, 1957, "Pete" married Sylvia Dykstra at Archer. He later transferred to Iowa State University in Ames.
After graduation they moved to Des Moines, where he was employed by the Meredith Publishing Company. After several years, they moved to Colorado, where he wa’~ employed by the Denver Equipment Company, the Colorado National Bank and the State of Colorado.
Mr. Wielenga was a member of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and golfing. "Bud" loved spending time with his family in the mountains.
Survivors include his wife of more than 53 years; three children and their spouses, Barbara and Joseph Bradac, of Denver, Douglas and Lorin Wielenga of Raleigh, N.C., and Debra and Kirk Martin of Littleton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and sister Arlene Oolman, brother and his wife Wilmar and Beverly Wielenga and sister-in-law Joyce Wielenga, all of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by brother Raymond Wielenga.
