William "Bill" Broek

William "Bill" Broek, 80, of Sioux Center, IA died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the Heritage House in Orange City.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 10:30am at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Ralph Koops officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Wiliam J. Broek was born to John and Elsie (Wassink) Broek on January 18, 1925 near Sioux Center. He received a country school education through the eighth grade.
Bill worked on the family farm until he married Ina Altena on December 28, 1945. After their marriage Bill & Ina farmed in the Sioux Center area. They moved into Sioux Center and Bill worked for Sioux Automation and Sioux Feed.
Bill was a devoted member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center where he served as a deacon and elder. Bill was also Classis treasurer for many years. He continued his service until 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and gardening. One thing he treasured most was spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his three daughters and their spouses: Rose and Bob Musselman of Omaha, NE, Paulette Braam of Orange City, Becky and Mark Van Ommeren of Orange City along with his six grandchildren: Amanda and Mark Flikkema of Spencer, Sgt. Kevin Braam of the US Army, Ft. Lewis, WA, Tim Braam of Orange City, Philip Van Ommeren of Orange City, Rachel Van Ommeren and Abby Van Ommeren of Orange City. Bill is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in law: Cornie & Berdie of Sioux Center, John & Gert Broek of Sioux Center; two sisters & brothers-in-law: Mathilda & John Van Beek of Orange City, Chris & Pete Schouten of Sioux Center; a sister, Betha Klein of Sioux Center; four sisters-in-law: Cornelia Broek of Rock Valley, Cora Broek of Sioux Center, Margaret Altena of Sioux Center, Dorothy Altena of Lake Park, IA; three brothers-in-law: Jim Franken of Sioux Center, Gaynor Te Grotenhuis of Sioux Center, Julius (Nancy) Altena of Grand Rapids, MI; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ina Broek; two brothers: Dave Broek and Arend Broek; three sisters: Margaret De Koter, Nell Franken and Elsie Te Grotenhuis.
