Ireton Ledger, Ireton, Sioux, Iowa, USA Thursday, March 28, 1935

Anna Louise Dittmer was born on July 11, 1860 at New Rome, Minn., and was one of a family of eight children. She died on Wednesday March 27, 1935, having reached the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 17 days. She became a member of the; Lutheran church by rite of Holy Baptism; this vow she renewed at the time of her confirmation in New Rome. On Feb. 3, 1885 she was joined in holy wedlock to Fred Dittmer of Guttenberg, Iowa. Due to her illness they were unable to celebrate their golden anniversary this past February. In the same spring of their marriage she accompanied her husband to Reading township, settling at the place where she spent the rest of her earthly life. To this union were born three children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Fred Manteuffel of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, Louis Dittmer of Hawarden, and Harry Dittmer who still is at the home of his father.

Although her crosses in life were many, it was not untit a year and a half ago that she realized she was suffering of cancer. This additional cross she willingly and patiently bore until the day of her death. For the past ten and a half weeks she had been bedfast. Throughout this time her Christian hopefulness was a source of comfort to herself, to those who waited upon her, as well as to her pastor.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her death a husband, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren,. and one brother; John Merhoff of Minneapolis, Minn.
