IRETON AND VICINITY:
Death Claims Mrs. Minnie Meyers

[The left-hand side of this obit was obscured in the margin of the microfilmed newspaper. I supplied or completed words where they were evident from the context.]

[??] the writer has to chronicle [the passing] of one of Ireton's citizens [who has] made the town her home for [more than] 30 years and who was high[ly regarded] in a large territory in this [part? of] Sioux county. When the news [came?] Tuesday morning that Mrs. [Minnie] Meyers had passed away at [her home] at about 7 o'clock, her many [friends] and relatives were indeed [shocked?]. It was known that she had [been] in poor health for some time, [having?] in recent months been in a hos[pital] for building up and observation. [Then?] she came home where she seem[ed im]proved at times, only to lose her [?] later. The last few days she was [up and?] down resting in bed a good [deal?]. Tuesday morning her brother, [Herm]an Imbrock, who has been stay[ing] with her and looking after the [home?] and her needs, got up shortly be[fore] 6 o'clock, starting the fire to cook [break]fast, and seeing that his sister [was] awake, he asked her wishes about [break]fast. She appeared to be feeling [as?] usual. When breakfast was done, [her] brother brought her breakfast to [her up]on a tray. She sat up and ate a [good?] meal and drank her coffee, re[mar]king how well it tasted. Mr. Im[brock] then went to eat his breakfast [in?] the kitchen and later went in to [bring] the tray back. As he brought it [into] the kitchen, he heard a gasp and [when] he entered her bedroom, she was [lying] on the bed unconscious. When [the] doctor came a few minutes later, [she] had passed away.

Mina Imbrock was born in Germany [Jan]uary 20, 1879, the daughter of [Hen]ry and Anna Imbrock. When only [a few] years old her parents and their [thr]ee children came to this country, [set]tling first in Ohio. Nearly 50 years [ago] the parents came to Sioux county, [whi]ch has been her home, farming [nor]thwest of Ireton in Eagle township. [She] was married twice. Her first hus[band], Henry Brunkhorst, died about [ten] years ago. They have lived in Ire[ton] about 30 years, most of the time [in] the home where she passed away.

[She] was married to Louis Meyers [nea]rly two years ago and he passed [away] a few months later. Since the [death] of Mr. Meyers, she has had a [br]other or sister helping her when the [need] required. The deceased was always a hard worker. She prided her [flo]cks of chickens, and for years they [ke]pt the best milk cows that money could buy, selling the product to the neighbors. Her garden and home were appreciated and always a place of comfort. Her neighbors and friends will feel her loss greatly. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith to which she clung with assurance and hope.

The funeral will be held today from the home at 1:30 and at St. Paul's Lutheran church at 2:00 with Rev. H. W. Krieger in charge. She will be laid to rest in the Brunkhorst lot in the Lutheran cemetery.

Left to mourn her passing are one sister, Mrs. Anna Jipp of Altamont, S.D., and three brothers, Carl of Chester, S.D., August of Lennox, S.D., and Herman of Ireton. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
