Robert Lee Cain, 54, of Hawarden died Sun., Jan. 11, 1998, at the Hawarden Community Hospital.

Services were at 10:30 a.m., Wed., Jan. 14 at First Baptist Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Andy Chako officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Tues., Jan. 13, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Cain was born May 24, 1943, in Hawarden, the son of Gilbert and Hazel "Jessie" (Jager) Cain. He was raised in Hawarden.

He married Virginia Jansen on Oct. 15, 1979, in Hawarden. He was employed with Harkness and later with Boyer Ready Mix until retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Hawarden Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his mother, Hazel "Jessie" Miniets of Hawarden; his wife; two daughters, Shalea and her husband Preston Fleming of DeSoto, and Penny Cain at home; and five grandchildren, Ki, Kathryn, Deise, Dominique and Devin Fleming.

He was preceded in death by his father; his step-father, John Miniets; and a sister, Carole Van Den Top.
