Geraldine H. Lankhorst, 81, of Sioux City, IA, died Sunday, August 22, at a Sioux City hospital.

Graveside services will be held in Grace Hill Cemetery, in Hawarden, on Friday, August 27, at 10 a.m. Visitation was at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., and at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 26, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Miss Lankhorst was born December 21, 1911, at Hurley, SD. She graduated from Hawarden High School, attended and graduated from Coe College and later received her nurses training from the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, IL.

After her nurses training, she spent several years living and working in Arizona. She returned to Hawarden and assisted Dr. F. M. Null with his medical practice. She later moved to Sioux City where she became executive assistant to the Woodbury Medical Society, Inc., until her retirement.

Survivors include a brother, John, and his wife, Imogene of Hawarden. Two nephews, Dr. Barry Lankhorst and his wife, Dr. Patricia Wirtz, of Sioux Falls, SD; and Douglas A. Lankhorst of Hawarden. Five grand nieces, Christina Beth, Abby Marie, Yvonne, Lisa and Lorena; a grand nephew, Michael Aaron; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry Lankhorst of Hawarden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hendrik H. and Everdine Visser Lankhorst; two brothers, Jacob and Harry John; and a nephew, Charles Lankhorst.
