HENRY J. BROWN
PASSED AWAY AT LONG BEACH TUESDAY MORNING
Served as Milwaukee Railway - Agent Here for 25 Years - Survived by Wife and Three Children

Henry J. Brown, for many years agent for the Milwaukee Railway Company in Hawarden, passed away at his home in Long Beach, Calif., Tuesday morning. Mr. Brown had been in failing health for the past three years and about ten days ago his condition became critical and his daughters were summoned from Iowa to be at his bedside.

Funeral services are to be held at Long Beach, Calif., this morning and the body will be placed in Sunnyside Mausoleum at Long Beach.

Mr. Brown was born and grew to young manhood at Fall River, Wis., and was about 58 years of age at the time of his death. He entered the service of the Milwaukee Railway Company on July 2, 1895, and remained in their employ until February, 1934, when he was given a leave of absence by the company but never returned to active duty as his health failed about that time. He came to Hawarden in April, 1909, from Scotland, S. D., and served as agent for the company here until he was checked out in 1934, a period of nearly twenty-five year. He has made his home in Long Beach since leaving Hawarden but has made occasional visits here. The last visit here was on election day last Novembér when with Mrs. Brown he spent several hours in Hawarden renewing old acquaintances. While on that same trip he visited his old home in Wisconsin and also visited his daughters in Waterloo and Des Moines.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son, Mrs. Gordon Meeter of Waterloo and Miss Beulah Brown of Des Moines, and Earl F. Brown of Long Beach, Calif. His death is also mourned by many old friends and business associates in Hawarden who esteemed him for his upright character and sterling integrity and valued his friendship highly.
