Laura Bryson, 76, of Hawarden, died Wednesday, November 18, 1998 at the Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden.Funeral Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21, at theUnited Methodist Church in Hawarden, with Rev. Dean Shelly ofticiating. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation began atnoon on Friday, with a Prayer Service at 7p.m. at the Porter-Dow FuneralHome in Hawarden. Laura was born on August 20, 1922, in Hudson, SD, daughter of Roy and Blanch (Krusen) Haddican. Laura married Loren Bryson on December 2, 1939, in Rock Rapids. Together they lived in Hawarden where Loren worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and Laura was a homemaker and worked for K-Products. Loren died January 31, 1990. Laura enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and crafts, but she especially liked entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her home. She was a longtime member of the Hawarden United Methodist Church where she was involved in Circle Groups, Bible Study, teaching of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and United Methodist Women. She was a leading role in the production of the church newsletter.Surviving relatives include two sons, Charles and his wife, Glenda, ofSchleswig, Douglas and Cristy Hubbart, of Sioux City; one daughter and her husband, Edith and Larry McKee, of Hawarden; two brothers and their wives, Charlie and Frankie, of San Antonio, TX, Don and Charlotte, of Sacramento, CA; one sister, Dell Honeywell, of Panama City, FL; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Loran; five brothers, Earl, Burton, Swede, Marlo and Dale; and one great-granddaughter, Teresa.
