Leland Lorne Cambier, 77, of Alton died Saturday, November 17, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.

Funeral service was Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City with the Rev. G. I. Williamson officiating. Interment was at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton.

Cambier was born December 12, 1929, in Orange City, the son of Clinton and Frances (Noteboom) Cambier. He was raised at Alton, where he graduated from the public high school. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. On December 12, 1951, he married Pearl Ahrendsen in Le Mars. They made their home in Alton, where he was the owner and operator of the liquor store.

He was a member of the Floyd American Legion Post in Alton, and he enjoyed motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife of almost 56 years; three children, Larry Cambier and his wife Nancy of Custer, South Dakota, Wanda and her husband Eric Highberger of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Steve Cambier of Alton; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Paul and Eleanor Cambier of Palm Bay, Florida, and Roger and Judy Cambier of Alton; and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Raymond and Virginia "Ginger" Cambier; and a niece.

Memorials will be directed to the Alton Veterans Memorial.
