RITES HELD TUESDAY FOR WALTER GROENEWEG

Mr. Walter Groeneweg, 56, passed away Friday, August 21, 1964, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, following surgery earlier in the week.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 25, at 1:00 o’clock from the Kraai Funeral Chapel and at 1:30 from the First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. N. Rozeboom officiating. Interment was at Hope Cemetery, Hull.

AT the services, special music “In Times Like These” and “The Lights of Home” were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Brouwer. Pallbearers were: Harold Boer, Courtney Elbers, Richard Groeneweg Jr., John Groeneweg Jr., Peter Boer, and Edward Obbink.

OBITUARY.
Walter H. Groeneweg, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Groeneweg, was born May 27, 1908, at Middleburg, Iowa. He died August 21, 1964.

In 1933 he was married to Jessamine Van Sloten to which union four children were born: Wallace, of Ames, Iowa; Ronald of Pella, Iowa; William and Verlyn of Hull, Iowa.

At an early age his parents moved to a farm northwest of Rock Valley, Iowa. He left the farm, while still a youth, to work in a machine shop, at which trade he spent the rest of his life. Later he set up a machine shop in Hull, Iowa, which was his life’s trade.

In 1933 he made confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at the First Reformed Church of Hull and he remained a faithful and loyal member.

Mr. Groeneweg served the town as councilman for ten years and maintained a wholesome interest in the affairs of the community and town.

He leaves to mourn his death: his wife, four sons, seven grandchildren, three daughters-in-law; five brothers, Paul H., John H., Peter, Joe H., and Richard; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Boer and Mrs. Henry Eilbers; besides a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
