Obituary: Hawarden, Iowa- Lorene Noble, 98, of Hawarden, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation will begin at noon Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Lorene Cochran Noble was born July 8, 1912, on a farm near Manilla, South Dakota, the daughter of Homer and Kathryn (De Gunther) Cochran. She married Hollis Noble on December 2, 1933 in Pender, Nebraska. The couple farmed in the Craig, Ireton, and Hawarden, Iowa areas until Hollis's death in 1979. Lorene stayed on the farm until 1983, when she moved into Hawarden.
Lorene enjoyed playing cards, gardening, quilting, and braiding rugs. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden.
Survivors include her son, Dean and wife Cathy of Hawarden; son-in-law, Clair Jensen of Sioux City, Iowa; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Noble of Grimes, Iowa; sister, Ruth Colombero of Sacramento, California; 10 grandchildren, Ryan and Jenna Noble, Lynette Konkel, Craig and Galen Jensen, Shelly, Greg, and Steve Noble, and Suzanne Hardy and Mark Noble; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis; sons, Daryl and Marvin; and daughters, Shirley Jensen and Janet in infancy.
