Dorothy Bruxvoort Nov. 16, 1910 -April 10, 2001
SHELDON Dorothy Bruxvoort, 90, Sheldon, died Tuesday April 10, 2001 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Services were Friday, April 13, at First Reformed Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. John Vermeer officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Service. Dorothy Bruxvoort daughter of Gerrit and Winnie (Vander Ploeg) Huitink, was born on Nov. 16, 1910, in Orange City, where she lived her youth and attended a country school. She married Brandt Bruxvoort of Orange City on Feb. 5, 1936, in Orange City, where they began farming.They moved in 1946 to rural Sheldon, where they farmed until they retired in 1988 and moved to town.She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, where she was active in church societies. She enjoyed sewing cooking and Providing for her family. She also enjoyed her quiet time of Scripture reading and prayer.She was dedicated to raising her children in the knowledge of the Lord. She was a very tenderhearted and caring person.Survivors include Brandt Bruxvoort; three sons, Gerald and Marilyn Bruxvoort of Orange City, Calvin and Carol Bruxvoort of Fort Collins, CO, and Bennett and Karen Bruxvoort of George; two daughters, Wynita Wiersma of Randolph, WI, Dolores and Harry Meendering of Hull; a daughter-in-law: Margo Bruxvoort of Randolph, WI; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Eunice Huitink of Orange City; and a sister, Tracy Huitink of Orange City.She was preceded in death by a son, Harvey; two grandchildren, Susan and Brian; a great-grandchild, Christina; her parents; two brothers, Charlie and Henry; and two sisters, Hendrene and Geftrude.
