SHELDON - Brandt Bruxvoort 92, Sheldon, died Wednesday, Aug 20, at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.Services were Saturday, Aug. 23 at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, with the Revs. Carl Bruxvoort and Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Service. Brandt Bruxvoort, son of Herman and Johanna (Meinders) Bruxvoort, was born March 10, 1911, in Crookston, MN, where he lived his early youth. He moved to rural Orange City with his family where he lived and attended country school. He married Dorothy Huitink on Feb. 5, 1936, at her parent's home in Orange City. They farmed in the Orange City area until 1946, when they moved to northeast of Sheldon to farm. They moved into Sheldon in 1988. Mrs. Bruxvoort died April 10, 2001 at the age of 90.He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed singing with the Dutch Psalm Singers for many years. He was a hard worker and always willing to help others when they needed him. He enjoyed gardening and animal husbandry, raising many championship hogs, cattle, sheep and other animals.Survivors include three sons, Gerald and Marilyn Bruxvoort of Orange City, Calvin and Carol Bruxvoort of Fort Collins, CO, and Bennett and Karen Bruxvoort of George; two daughters; Wynita Wiersma of Randolph, WI, and Dolores and Harry Meendering of Hull; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anne Van Kalsbeek of Orange City and Hermina Bloemendaal of Orange City; three sisters-in-law, Minerva Bruxvoort of Pella, Martha Bruxvoort of Luverne, MN, and Verda Bruxvoort of Visalia, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bruxvoort; a son, Harvey and Margo Bruxvoort; six brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
