Alfhild "Alpha" Bauder, 84, of rural Hawarden died Thursday, September 22, 1994, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sepember 24, at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center with the Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation began at noon, Friday, September 23, and the family was present from 7 pm. to 8 pm. A prayer service was held on Friday at 7:30 p.m., at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Bauder was born March 12, 1910, in Vastervik, Smoland, Sweden, the daughter of Oscar and Linnea (Askling) Magnuson. She came to the United States at age 1 1/2 years. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended West Branch Country School near Hudson, SD, and graduated from Hudson High School in 1929, She married Clarence Bauder, December 17, 1929, in the parsonage of Peace Lutheran Church. Thc couple farmed for one year east of Lebanon, and moved to their farm northeast of Hawarden in 1931. She moved to the nursing home in July 1994.
Mrs. Buader was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the ELCW.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Charles of Hawarden; a son-in~ law, Lester Wilkens of Hawarden; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Constance "Connie") Halma and Mrs Sam (Judith "Judy") Halma, both of Inwood; two sisters, Ina Palm of Flint, Ml, and Mrs. John (Helen) De Vries of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and two step-great granddaughters.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Wilkens; a brother, Robert Magnuson and two sisters, Lily Treynor and Louis Magnuson.
