Johanna Buckley, age 85, of Rock Valley, died Sunday, February 14, 1993, at the Colonial Manor Nursing
Home of Hudson, SD. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Valley.
Burial was in Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Rock Valley. Father Donald R. Smith officiated.
Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangments.
Johanna was born September 12, 1907 at Varik, Holland, the daughter of Frank and Roelofke (Van Riemsdyk) Clements. She came to the U.S.A. and settled in the Rock Valley area with her
family when 18 months old. She worked at Foppe’s Store in Rock Valley before she married Leo Buckley January 25, 1926 at Rock Valley. Together they lived in various cities including Sioux Falls, SD and Denver, CO where she worked for J.C. Penney’s before moving back to Rock Valley. Leo died August 30, 1978.
Johanna moved to the Colonial Manor of Hudson March 24, 1988.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Joyce) Cira of Milwaukee, Wis.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother in-law, Ed Buckley of Rock Valley; sister- in-law, Mary Flanagen of Sioux Falls, SD.
