ORANGE CITY--John H. Hofmeyer, 70, Orange City, died Friday [May 27] at his residence of an apparent heart attack.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Christian Reformed Church, Orange City. The Rev. John H. Rubingh officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mr. Hofmeyer was born Sept. 9, 1906, at Alton. He married Margie Doctor Jan. 10, 1934, at Orange City. The couple farmed in the Orange City area for 38 years, moving to town in 1972.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Harlan of Sioux Center and Justin of Orange City; a daughter, Mrs. Brent (Linda) Mulder of Boyden; a brother, Arthur of Orange City, and nine grandchildren.

Another, slightly more detailed obituary published in the Sioux County Capital (May 31, 1977) adds that he was the son of Henry and Coba Hofmeyer; that he was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City; and that he was preceded in death by one son and one grandson. It also lists pallbears and musicians at the funeral service.
